Ok, so "You Unfollowed Me" was one of the most unique situations ever
좋아요, 그러니까 "You Unfollowed Me" 는 여지껏 써왔던 곡들 중에서도 가장 독특한 곡이예요.
because I gotta be honest with you: this is probably the fastest I've ever written a song in my entire life.
솔직히 말하자면 제가 일생 동안 썼던 곡들 중에서도 가장 빨리 쓰여진 곡이거든요.
The producers were like "Hey, we need 'You Unfollowed Me' in the morning," and I was like, "Holy crap,"
프로듀서들은 말했어요. "아침까지 'You Unfollowed Me' 를 완성하게". 그리고 전 말했죠. "이런 젠장."
but I had to go to the studio and I had to write this entire song in one night.
하지만 전 결국 스튜디오에 가서 밤을 새가며 곡을 작업해야 했어요.
And the inspiration from this song came because while we were on tour, I decided that I was following way too many people.
이 노래는 투어를 다닐때 제가 너무 많은 사람들을 트위터에서 팔로우했다는 걸 알게 됐을 때부터 영감을 얻었어요.
My friends would, like, literally get pregnant, have the child, and the child would be, like, in second grade and I never knew that they were ever pregnant
가령 제 친구들이 임신을 했고 아이가 생겨서 그 아이가 이제 2학년이 되었는데 전 그 친구들이 임신했었다는 사실조차 모르고 있었어요.
because I had so many people on my timeline that I couldn't see my real friends.
제 탐라에는 너무 많은 사람들이 있어서 진정한 친구들을 미처 보지 못한 거예요.
So I decided "I'm just gonna unfollow everyone" because no one can get offended if I unfollow everyone—except for Beyoncé because why would I do that?
그래서 전 모두를 언팔하기로 마음먹었어요. 내가 모두를 언팔한다고 해서 상처 받을 사람은 없다고 생각했거든요. 비욘세 님만 빼고요. 제가 미쳤다고 그런 짓을 하겠어요?
And so I unfollowed everyone. Well, the Toddlers went crazy.
그래서 모두를 언팔했더니 토들러즈(토드릭 홀의 팬들이 자신을 지칭하는 용어) 분들이 꼭지가 돌아버렸어요.
They were all writing, like "This is the Great Unfollowing; how could you do this to us?" Everyone was so confused.

And I started realizing the power and impact that Twitter and Instagram and all these social media sites have on the kids today.
그리고 전 그제서야 트위터와 인스타그램같은 소셜 미디어 사이트들에 자리하고 있는 젊은 친구들의 힘과 영향력이 얼마나 강대한지 알게 됐죠.
And so I decided to write a song about two girls that just go ballistic because the guys that they think that they're in love with unfollow them.
그래서 전 두 소녀가 자신과 사랑에 빠졌다고 착각했던 남자들이 자신을 언팔한 것 때문에 분통을 터뜨리는 스토리라인을 잡고 그걸 주제로 노래를 쓰기로 결정했죠.
And it was just a hilarious concept and I'm so glad that I got to sing it with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
굉장히 웃긴 컨셉이었고 그걸 조셉 고든 레빗 씨와 함께 하게 돼서 기뻤어요.
He came in and completely loved the song, completely owned it. He's such a true actor.
그는 이 노래에 완전히 빠져들었고 노래를 완전히 자신 것으로 만들었어요. 그는 진정한 배우예요.
He didn't go into the studio timid at all. He walked in and completely started singing at a 10.

And so now every time I go to the studio I say "what would Joseph Gordon-Levitt do?" and I sing at a 10 when I get there.

So not only did I write a song in record-breaking time and get to work with one of my favorite actors in the entire world,

but I learned a very valuable lesson about how you should go into the studio and how you should approach every single aspect of your life.
